The JDI Open.

In homage to the British Open at Turnberry this weekend we held our own golf tournament, the JDI Open.

Featuring seasoned pros to rookies, and handicaps of 12 to 1200 we contested the first annual contest at Wickham Park Golf Club.

It was a fiercely contested 18 holes with the early leader Mike Burrow grabbing 2 birdies in the first three holes. There were some great swings on show and some not so great, with Nick Baker scoring a miserable 12 on the 7th. (“my new clubs are offset by 5 degrees” was his excuse)

Among the well performing rookies were intellichat’s Dan Short and Maxwell Clements both scoring under 100. The Closest to the Pin contest was won by Developer Rich Turner, this was contested on the 10th hole with the winner receiving the prize pot of £50. The unofficial longest drive award went to the woeful Nick Baker, adding a bright spot to his otherwise miserable day!! Among the others to have a round to forget were Technical Officer Dave Cooper who should defiantly stick to HTML!

The Shot of the Day was saved for the newly crowned JDI Open Champion Ben Rolison also of intellichat. Coming up the 17th with clubhouse leader Mike Burrow already home with a well respected 86, Rolison was under pressure knowing two pars were needed on the two proceeding holes had 170 yards to the pin after a respectable tee shot. With a 7 iron out of the bag he stuck a magnificent lofted fade into the green stopping dead within an inch of the Pin (Pictured), helping the executive Account Manger to a splendid Birdie. A par followed on the 18th crowning Rolison the 2009 JDI Champion!!

It was an extremely enjoyable day for all and all of JDI would like to ‘Congratulate‘ Ben on his triumph.
